Models walk at Istanbul fashion week
Turkish label Gizia at Istanbul fashion week
The Mod-inspired suits are fashionably cropped and double-breasted, the shirts printed, the knitwear outsized, the high-tech fabrics stretchy and lightweight. Small wonder that rock stars Ringo Starr and Liam Gallagher, and footballer Thierry Henry are fans. More surprising is that the label, Tween, does not hail from Milan, London or Paris, but from Istanbul.

Turkish opposition party wants review of Ankara-Erevan protocols
Ankara, 18 March - Tensions with the United States and Sweden following the recent initiatives in these countries towards a public stance on the “genocide” issue, are spilling over into Turkish internal politics. The diplomatic row is giving the main opposition party, the Republican People's Party (CHP), an opportunity to make its point. From the beginning the CHP had voiced out strong opposition against the protocols signed by the government with Erevan in October 2009, arguing that no understanding between Turkey and Armenia must be made until Armenia amends its constitutional article related to “genocide” and withdraws from the Karabakh region it occupies inside Azerbaijan.

Ankara ties its hands on US Armenian quagmire [ Hürriyet ]
Ankara ties its hands on US Armenian quagmire
It is impossible for me to recall how many times we journalists have used the alarming words “critical period” when reporting about resolutions to recognize Armenian claims of “genocide.” A senior Turkish official used this same phrase to describe the weeks leading up to April 24, the day U.S. President Barack Obama will issue his annual statement on the 1915 killings.

In the Armenian issue we harvest what we planted on Sept. 12 [ Hürriyet ]
In the Armenian issue we harvest what we planted on Sept. 12
The poll in Sweden took me back to the 1980s. As I saw how the Swedish parliamentarians of Kurdish origin influenced the poll, I thought of the military regime.
The September 12 military regime has done the greatest harm to this country by forcing thousands of Kurdish origin, leftists or those who shared a different view to leave the country.
